FAQs

Confidential treatment

We provide a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental and confidential environment. New Jersey law and professional ethics require that we keep all communications confidential except in instances where you disclose intent to harm yourself or another, you report elder or child abuse, you were abused by another therapist, or by court order. If you are utilizing insurance benefits, occasionally we may have to discuss certain aspects of your treatment with insurance personnel.   Occasionally we may also consult with another mental health professional if we believe it will be beneficial to you. We may ask you to sign a release of information if you are seeing a psychiatrist or medical doctor who may provide additional information that helps us to help you.

Sessions

Therapy sessions are generally 45 minutes to one hour in duration. If you need to cancel a session, we ask for 24 hours’ notice except in cases of emergency, or you may be charged for the missed session. We value your time and ask that you value ours. Please call us if you would like to schedule an appointment. We generally return calls within 24 hours.

Emergencies

If you face an emergency situation, please call 911 or your local hospital crisis line. In Warren County, NJ, please call (908) 454-5141

COVID

We are currently seeing clients online, and in-person with precautions for COVID. Please ask us for our COVID precaution list.

What can I expect?

You can schedule a session with our online scheduler or you can call to talk to one of us. We will send you a link to our online portal, where you will enter your information on our secure, HIPAA-approved site. We will ask for some background information, your insurance (if any) and your personal information.

Your first session will give you the opportunity to see if your therapist is a good fit for you. The therapeutic relationship is the biggest agent of change, so if we are not a good fit for you, please let us know. We are happy to help you find someone who will work for you.

We will ask you about yourself, your goals for therapy and will discuss a course of action that will work for you. We may ask you to complete some assessments. We will check in with with you to see how you think your therapy is going. We want you to see results, and we want to help you affect change in your life.
